Go Far Community Heroes: Not too long ago, my daughter Kate, went out for her first 13.1 mile run. There was little fanfare to it as she ran down our driveway in the dead of winter for her adventure up into the orchards. She came home and got a big hug from her dad, brother and I, then went strait to the computer to post her run to STRAVA. It wasn't long before Heather Wahlquist Neeley and Stephanie Blozy at Fleet Feet Sports in West Hartford, caught wind of Kate's first half-marathon. A few days later, a package arrived addressed to Kate. She opened it up and it contained a pile of little goodies including a medal praising her 13.1 mile effort.
Fleet Feet redefines the shopping experience in a world of box stores and dreaded shopping outings. They talk to you by name, ask your family about what race is next on the horizon, give friendly advice and get you fitted correctly. They took the time to make my daughter feel special and I am truly grateful.
They are joining Go Far Wellness Program at the race this year and will be there to cheer on the kids. They will also be raffling off two pairs of Adidas Energy Boost (grown up sizing) in Avengers colors! They are the true heroes of the running community, creating their very own sort of Justice League.
